Since we invoke our Lord, prayer is also called hands praying, invocation, supplication or doa. In addition to this, I'll also share with you the bigger meaning of prayer, which either called solat or solah or namaz prayer

“Any Muslim who turns his face towards Allah, asking Him (for something), Allah certainly gives him what he has asked for; either He gives it to him immediately or he keeps it (i.e. the Doa) in store for him (to compensate him at a later stage of his life or in the Hereafter).”
